GETTING HERE

To begin your adventure, the first step is choosing your trip.

Each season Uplandrides offers multiple tours, unique routes, and varied price points. Take some time to explore the options and decide which journey you’d like to be a part of.

During checkout, you’ll be able to customize your experience by selecting optional add-on such as private room upgrades.

Once you’ve selected your tour, we’ll ask for a $500 deposit to secure your spot. Please note that this deposit is non-refundable. However, if your plans change and the tour dates no longer work for you, your deposit can be fully credited toward any future tour.

If paying the full amount upfront isn’t convenient, don’t worry — we offer installment payment options leading up to the tour departure. If you have any questions, we recommend reviewing the payment terms page or reaching out to us directly.

Great news — your deposit has been received, and your spot is officially secured.

Next, we’ll provide you with an invitation letter, which you’ll need for your visa application. Simply visit the official Pakistan Visa website and follow the required steps.

While your visa is being processed, it’s time to connect with your fellows on tour. You’ll be invited to a private whatsapp group where you can meet other participants and ask questions directly to the tour leader(Wajeeh).

In addition to the Whatsapp group, we’ll host at least one Zoom meeting before the tour begins. This gives everyone a chance to connect face-to-face, get familiar with one another, and clarify any remaining questions with the tour leaders.

And then — it’s time to go.

By now, your visa should be approved and your flights booked. You’re officially ready for the journey ahead.

Once you arrive in Pakistan, our tour leader and crew members will be there to welcome you, pick you up, and transfer you comfortably to your hotel.

If you’d like to extend your stay, we can arrange additional nights of accommodation. These extra days can be booked separately and paid directly by you.

Take this time to relax, settle in, and recharge — because we need you fully refreshed for the adventure of a lifetime that’s about to begin.

WHAT TO PACK?

When it comes to riding in a country like Pakistan, there’s always an element of uncertainty. The golden rule is simple: anything is possible, so pack with that mindset.

Temperatures can swing dramatically — from scorching heat reaching 43 Celsius in Islamabad to below-freezing conditions high in the mountains. Elevation changes everything.

That said, our tours are scheduled during the most ideal times of the year. Generally, conditions in the northern mountains are excellent. Still, mountain weather can be unpredictable, so preparation is key. Bring your rain gear for hiking, a breathable summer mesh jacket for hot days, and one or two warm layers for the cold.

So, what else should you pack?

Packing also depends on the month and region you choose. With multiple tours running across different locations, weather conditions can vary significantly. If you’re ever unsure, your tour leaders are always available to guide you with personalized advice.

These may include:

  • A thermos and electrolytes
  • A camera to capture the journey
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen and insect repellent
  • Personal medications and a basic first-aid kit
  • Wet wipes
  • Battery packs and chargers
  • And a few snacks for the road

Duffel bags are the preferred option for packing your belongings. If you’re a heavier packer, you’ll have the option to store extra bags safely in Islamabad. Anything you don’t want to carry will be transported in our support vehicles.

Your luggage will be delivered to your hotel room every evening and loaded back onto the vehicles each morning — so you can focus entirely on the ride.

You’ll definitely need your passport and visa, along with travel adapters and charging cables. And yes — don’t forget to pack some clothes.

Most importantly, pack a sense of adventure — because this journey is about more than just the ride.

CULTURAL ETIQUETTE

For many of you, this may be your first time in this part of the world.

You’re probably wondering — what should I expect when I arrive in Pakistan?

International tourism in Pakistan has been steadily growing year after year. For many Pakistanis, however, seeing foreign visitors is still a rare and exciting experience. From the moment you land at the airport, you may notice curious glances, warm smiles, and even people asking to take selfies with you. It’s something you’ll quickly get used to. Most people are simply friendly, welcoming, and genuinely curious.

While safety is not a concern, security remains our top priority. Our crew members and security guard will always be nearby to accompany and assist you whenever needed.

When planning what to wear in Pakistan, it’s important to remember that the country is culturally traditional. Women should avoid crop tops, deep necklines, short skirts, shorts, and overly tight or revealing clothing. Outfits should cover both the shoulders and knees. Cotton shirts paired with loose pants or ankle-length skirts are comfortable and respectful options.

In certain areas — such as mosques or more conservative villages — women may be required to cover their heads. Carrying a light scarf or shawl is highly recommended and very useful in these situations.

For men, loose cotton shirts or t-shirts combined with long linen or cotton pants work best. Avoid clothing with offensive graphics or imagery. While shorts can be worn in some places, keep in mind that at mosques and religious sites, pants are required and shoes must be removed.

Try to avoid synthetic fabrics. Natural cotton clothing will keep you cooler and more comfortable under the strong sun. It’s also important to carry something to cover your head for added protection.

As Pakistan was once part of the British Empire, English is widely spoken across the country. Urdu is the national language, while English serves as the official language. You’ll find many road signs and public notices written in English. Still, learning a few basic Urdu phrases goes a long way.

“Hello” is Assalamu Alaikum.

The water you’ll be drinking is called pani.

The bread you won’t be able to stop eating is roti.

And if someone asks how you’re liking Pakistan, you can reply with a smile and say — “Jee haan.”

With all the selfies you might be politely declining, a simple friendly response will take you a long way.

Head over to https://visa.nadra.gov.pk for all the details you need.

WHAT SHOULD I PACK FOR THE TRIP?
Here’s a quick packing guide:

  • Jacket, pants, gloves, boots.
  • Comfortable clothes like jeans, long/short-sleeve T-shirts, and base layers for winter tours.
  • A windbreaker or light jacket for chilly mornings/evenings.
  • Sunglasses, sunscreen (SPF 50), and a camera.
  • Some cash for personal expenses like snacks, laundry, or shopping (we can help with currency exchange—just let us know).
  • And most importantly—a sense of adventure!

You’ll have a support vehicle (If needed) to stash extra stuff, so don’t stress about overpacking.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK?
Once your tour is confirmed, you can apply for your Pakistan e-visa.

Processing is usually quick. Most visas are approved within 36 to 48 hours after submission.

Your Pakistan e-visa is valid for 3 months from the date you apply, so make sure you time your application accordingly and don’t apply too early.

When should I arrive?
Plan to arrive two days before the tour kicks off. It’ll give you time to shake off jet lag and gear up for an epic adventure.

What’s the weather like, and what gear will I need?
Weather can be unpredictable, so pack for all possibilities. Riding season runs from May to mid-October, with generally great conditions in the mountains. Bring rain gear, a summer mesh jacket, and a warm layer or two. For specific weather advice based on your tour, feel free to contact us—we’ll help you pick the best trip for your preferences.

What kind of shape do I need to be in?
Good physical and mental health are essential for any adventure tour. We suggest checking in with your doctor before booking. Arriving two days early also helps you recover from jet lag and prep for the ride.

Is airfare included in the tour cost?
No, airfare isn’t included. Tours start in Islamabad. If you need extra hotel stays before or after the tour, we can arrange that for you. Hotels near the airport are typically used for convenience, and we’ll provide shuttles when needed. We recommend arriving a couple of days early and leaving a few days after the tour to fully enjoy the experience.
